What would you do if your dead father showed up asking for revenge?

Manifest Destiny is a new play by Chilean playwright Manuel Ortiz and it puts Hamlet’s age-old question to the test – where documentary theater meets telenovela and things get darkly funny.

Inspired by the very real political violence under Chile's military dictatorship, including the 1970s car bombing that killed a Chilean dissident and an American in Washington D.C., Ortiz blurs the lines between reality and fiction. Expect Cold War spies, assassins, a twisted Jeopardy game, and Missus America herself in this genre-bending revenge tale, all seen through a Queer immigrant lens rooted in New York City.

Manifest Destiny is chapter two of Ortiz's American Mythology trilogy, following the sold-out success of American Dream (2022). Come witness the ghosts that still haunt two nations, and a story that refuses to stay buried. More info: @manifestdestinyplay
