SAFE HOUSE is a contemporary family drama set in Pennsylvania in the days leading up to a U.S. presidential election. Convinced the world outside is on the brink of collapse, Rock, a father secretly dying of a hereditary neurodegenerative disease, becomes consumed by the need to protect his family, transforming his suburban basement into a doomsday bunker.
When his estranged teenage daughter, Claire, returns home pregnant and determined to terminate the pregnancy, his fear crystallizes into action. Intent on protecting both his daughter and his unborn grandchild at any cost, he locks Claire inside the bunker, recasting coercion as care. But the family begins to unravel. Attempting to free her sister, Rock’s other daughter Ashley uncovers the truth about her father’s illness, while their mother, Slipper, struggles to hold onto a reality slipping beyond her control.
Confined and desperate, Claire attempts to reclaim her autonomy through a dangerous, self-induced abortion. The attempt leads to a medical emergency, and she is ultimately rushed from the house by ambulance, her survival uncertain. Left alone in the bunker he built as a sanctuary, Rock is forced to confront both the failure of his protection and the inevitability of his own decline, ultimately taking his own life.
In the aftermath, Slipper and Ashley are left to come to terms with the wreckage. Safe House interrogates the collision of political extremism and private life, asking how fear reshapes love, and who bears the cost when protection turns authoritarian.
